Wow! Thanks to Alex for letting me take over Final Answer Trivia today! I feel like I’m on one of the special guest-star episodes for a tv show.
It’s Mrs. Final Answer Trivia here!(When I’m not adding commentary here, you can find me over at
and .)So, you all voluntarily read Alex’s trivia, but I live with it every day. He is always thinking of questions, or taking me and our son down memory lane with movies or music from the past.
Polar opposite to that, I didn’t grow up watching much tv, movies or listening to music. So when we started dating, Alex made it his mission to catch me up on all the good music and movies I missed from the 80s and 90s.
It was maybe a few months into dating that he presented me with a complete collection of 6 CDs burned with the music that he deemed necessary to listen to. (Yes, I did listen to them all and had them for years. Mix CD’s 1 and 3 were the best. Maybe more on them another day.)
This past Christmas, I grabbed Alex a little book with 52 weeks of movie prompts. Each week we have an “at home” date night and pick a movie based on the prompts. Often, Alex tries to pick something from the 80s and 90s that I didn’t see.
I thought I would share 3 of my favorites that we’ve watched this year. Did you watch them when they came out? I would love to know what you thought of them.
Falling Down. Michael Douglas has a really, really bad day. It’s a little dark, but one of those movies that will live in your brain long after you’ve finished it.
Training Day. Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. Do you notice a theme? We were watching movies that take place within a day. This movie has some twists and turns… and fantastic acting. Loved it.
True Romance. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette are such a funky love-at-first-sight couple. It’s set in Detroit so it was a must-watch as someone who grew up in the metro-Detroit area. It’s a wild ride, but definitely a movie I would rewatch.
Maybe Alex will let me pop back in again and share a glimpse of our home theater space that he created???(…and no….these are his questions, not mine.)

“I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!”
Tell me this 1985 movie and what character said this very inspirational line.

Music Videos….As Described by ChatGPT/A.I.💥
Tell me this 1984 Billboard Hot 100 #7 hit song and band.
Opening Scene (Dark, Surreal Setting) – The video opens in a shadowy, post-apocalyptic environment filled with fog, flickering lights, and industrial debris, setting a gritty, fantastical tone.
The Lead Singer’s Entrance – The lead singer appears, dressed in glam rock attire with dramatic makeup, stepping boldly through the mist as she begins singing.
Tribal Dancers and Creatures – Strange, costumed dancers wearing face paint and animalistic outfits emerge, moving around the lead singer in stylized, ritualistic choreography. They embody a primitive, chaotic energy.
Performance Shots of The Lead Singer – Intercut with the dancers, there are close-ups of the lead singer passionately singing and gesturing dramatically, portraying her as a fierce, commanding presence.
Confrontations and Symbolism – The lead singer navigates through the bizarre crowd, sometimes facing off against the dancers or symbolically battling them, emphasizing themes of strength, survival, and identity.
Explosions and Climactic Energy – As the song reaches its peak, bright flashes, bursts of light, and quick-cut editing heighten the chaotic, battle-like atmosphere between the lead singer and the wild dancers.
Final Scene (Triumphant Exit) – The video ends with the lead singer standing tall and defiant amid the chaos, victorious and unbroken, as the dancers fade into the background and the screen dims.

Hodge-Podge💥
A flashback to earlier this season—In S2:E6—We asked you this question: “Two songs with the same title but entirely different lyrics both hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1981. Both songs were released in 1980—and climbed up the charts in 1981. The first song—we’ll call it Song A—was from a successful 1980 movie. The second song—we’ll call it Song B—had to “tweak” it’s title in the U.S., so it wouldn’t be confused with Song A.
Let’s do a version of this one again - Two songs with the same title but entirely different lyrics both had monster hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1984. Both songs were released at the end of 1983—and climbed up the charts in 1984. The first song, from an American rock band,—we’ll call it “Song A”—was from a monster rock album—this song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second song, from a female group,—we’ll call it “Song B”—had to slightly “tweak” it’s title after “Song A” hit #1 earlier in 1984.
Tell me these two song titles and the groups who performed them.
