I’ve talked about chips that I miss from the 80’s/90’s and I’ve also talked about candy bars that I miss. Today? Let’s talk about something just as exciting—Crackers!!!
Sigh—I know—I know—Crackers aren’t sexy—but man, there have been some great ones that are no longer with us.
Let’s begin—Some time in the late 70’s—my mom decided to start buying crackers to pack in my school lunch. Until that point—I think I had eaten Ritz, Cheez-Its, Cheese Nibs(remember those?), and good ole Saltines.
She rotated a flavor/variety once a week or so—she also did the same thing with Little Debbie Snack Cakes and Capri-Suns right around the same time. My lunches ruled! And—before you freak out about too much junk food in my lunch—I also had to eat some type of sandwich every day also. Plus—it was the 70’s—the Wild West of food abuse!
I just wanted to touch on a few that were so so good—and some of these have gone to the great cracker graveyard.
Dixies - These were amazing. Drumstick shaped—some kind of salty, sorta chicken-y type flavoring. Hollow in the middle but packed with flavor.(F.A.T. Editors Note: We’ll save another tasty chicken cracker for another episode.)
dip in a chip - These were a cheesy, chive-y crispy cracker. These were a repeat quite often at my house—I think my sisters and mom were big fans so we had them quite a bit.
Dishonorable mention from this photo - Vegetable Thins. So so so bad. So bad. Mrs. Final Answer Trivia disagrees—let’s just say—these have never been in our house.
Nacho ‘N Corn Thins - These had a unique….maybe zesty-ish flavor. Tasty.
Dishonorable mention from this photo - Triscuit. They look and taste like a wicker floor mat.
What are some crackers that you miss?
TV 📺
Hodge-Podge💥
Nine years before he starred on his NBC sitcom—Jerry Seinfeld appeared in three episodes of a successful ABC sitcom. He played a mail-delivery guy—and was fired for “creative differences” after only three episodes. What was this sitcom—and what was his characters name?

Cheesy Movies💥
In my last bonus episode—I talked about how 1984 had a bunch of movies that were huge box office, cool movies, or culturally memorable even today. Ghostbusters…Gremlins…Beverly Hills Cop….Karate Kid…Purple Rain…Sixteen Candles…A Nightmare on Elm Street….and plenty more. There is another one that I saw at the $1 theater when I was a teenager. It was very cheesy. It was the #124 domestic grossing movie of the year in 84—$4.6 million in earnings. Can you name this movie, based off of the taglines on the poster?

Hodge-Podge💥
This band had some rocking songs in the late 70’s/early 80’s. They had a total of 8 Billboard Top 10 hits in their career. They had a #1 hit in the 70’s, a #3 hit in the 80’s—and then this oh-so-cheesy #3 hit in March 1991. Heck—they so graciously allowed me to use one of their songs for my Season 3 opening credits. Who is this band and this #3 cheesy hit?

Boy Bands💥
A two-part question today! Part One—A popular boy band in the 80’s originally had the five members in the first picture below. One member was fired in late 1985 and replaced by the singer in the next picture. Name this band and all six members—and who was fired?
