Growing up in the 70s/80s—We didn’t eat fast food very often. I think on vacation road trips or maybe a McDonalds cheeseburger a couple of times a year. Also, I think my mom liked Arby’s, so we had that I think maybe once or twice? By the late 80’s - I had my first job and more importantly, now, I could afford to treat myself to all of the wonderful fast food places that I had missed out on.
So—I’d like to list out some of the tasty dishes that tantalized my taste buds back in the late 80s/early 90s.
Chicken McNuggets - I mean, classic, timeless, made with chicken parts. But I liked to think of them as made from chicken goodness.
Wendy’s Bacon Mushroom Melt - I think this showed up in the early 90s, and would show up once a year for a few years. Then it disappeared for a few and showed up maybe every 2-3 years. Absolutely delicious. Maybe a little high in sodium—but let’s not focus on that. I honestly can’t remember how long it’s been since it’s been out—Not gonna lie—I miss it.
Taco Bell Chicken Soft Tacos - It was around 87/88 maybe when the chicken soft tacos were introduced. I remember Taco Bell brought in both chicken soft tacos and steak soft tacos as a part of a new menu—regular tacos went up to 59 cents and the chicken and steak soft tacos were on the 79 cent menu. I know there has been many iterations of the chicken soft taco over the past 35 years—but the original was soooo good—and that 79 cent price point was nice.
Last for now - Delicious piping hot Arby’s! Taste? Check….but let’s be real….price? CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!

Forgotten Shows💥
I mentioned last week the concept of earworms…and how sometimes they just linger in your brain for decades. Well—here is another one that finds its way into my brain every so often.
In 1985 - NBC aired a promotional ad for a show that went a little something like this: “ ______ is the place to be with Marla Gibbs and her family”. What part of this little rap ditty is missing?
